What Charities Told Us — And How We're Making Cyber Essentials Training Even Better

Learning from Experience 

In April 2025, we partnered with Charity Digital to launch a practical Cyber Essentials training programme tailored for charities. The response was hugely positive and not only did we reach capacity, but the feedback we received was honest, constructive, and incredibly valuable. 


We’re excited to announce that, due to popular demand, the training is back on 24 June 2025 — and this time, it’s even better. 

 

What We Heard — And What We’ve Changed 

Our April attendees told us they appreciated the hands-on nature of the session, especially the live hack simulation, which brought cyber threats to life in a way that felt real and urgent. But we also spotted a clear opportunity for improvement in two areas: 

  • More time and support for practical next steps to help organisations meet Cyber Essentials requirements 

  • Simpler, jargon-free explanations of key security controls for non-technical staff 

So, we’ve listened — and we’ve acted: 

  • We’ve expanded our practical guidance, offering clearer, step-by-step support for implementing each of the five Cyber Essentials controls. 

  • We’ve simplified the language throughout, so teams with little to no technical background can fully engage and take action. 

  • We’ve reshaped the session structure to focus on the content you value most — actionable takeaways and real-life application, while keeping things engaging and accessible. 

These changes are all about making your time with us even more valuable, whether you're just starting your cyber journey or sharpening your existing practices. 

 

Why This Training Matters Now More Than Ever 

The recent wave of high-profile cyber attacks reported in the press, targeting well-known and established UK retailers, is a stark reminder that no one is off limits.  

According to the most recent UK Government Cyber Security Breaches Survey, nearly one in three charities experienced an attack last year. This isn’t just a statistic — it’s a call to action. 

92% Fewer Claims: Research shows that organisations with Cyber Essentials controls in place are 92% less likely to make a cyber insurance claim, compared to those without certification.
